Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday marked the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) by hosting and interacting with beneficiaries of the scheme at his residence in New Delhi. During the heartfelt interaction, the Prime Minister emphasized how the scheme has empowered ordinary citizens to become successful entrepreneurs and job creators.

Welcoming the beneficiaries, PM Modi said, “I thank you all for coming to my residence. Our scriptures say that when guests arrive, the house becomes pure. I welcome you all with that spirit.”

He underlined that the Mudra Yojana is not about glorifying any government, but about giving India’s youth the confidence to stand on their own feet. “This scheme is not for Modi’s praises. It is a mission to enable our youth to realize their entrepreneurial potential,” he said.

Among the beneficiaries was a bakery owner from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, who shared that her business now generates a monthly turnover of ₹2.5–3 lakh and employs 7–8 people. “We promise you that we will help make India a developed nation,” she told the Prime Minister.

Lavkush Mehra, a beneficiary from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, narrated how he transitioned from being a worker to an employer. “I started with a ₹5 lakh Mudra loan in 2021, and today my business has grown with a turnover of over ₹50 lakh,” he said. Responding to Mehra, PM Modi praised the courage shown by small entrepreneurs and called such journeys “inspiring milestones in India’s growth story.”

A 21-year-old engineering student from Bhavnagar, Gujarat, also shared his story of launching a tech lab focusing on 3D printing and robotics with a ₹2 lakh Mudra loan. He now earns ₹30,000 to ₹35,000 monthly while continuing his studies.

Highlighting the overall impact of the scheme, PM Modi said, “₹33 lakh crore has been disbursed under Mudra without any collateral, showing our trust in the people. The scheme has created employment opportunities, especially for women who have been the largest and fastest-repaying loan takers.”

He added that while some beneficiaries have created jobs for one or two people, others have gone on to employ dozens — generating ripple effects across the economy.

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi posted, “The Mudra Yojana has given countless people the opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial skills. Interacted with some of the beneficiaries of the scheme. Their journey is inspiring.”

Launched in April 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana was designed to support micro and small enterprises by offering loans without collateral. In the decade since, over 52 crore loans worth ₹32.61 lakh crore have been sanctioned, sparking a grassroots entrepreneurial revolution and contributing to India’s economic and social transformation.
